Dr's aren't always right!

So, took my 4 year old to the Pediatrician yesterday, for his 4 year check up.
At the end of the visit, she mentioned "well, he only grew 1/2 an inch this year". Ordered about a million tests for him, meanwhile, I am freaking out on the inside. Just thinking, omg, preemie, seizures, and now he is going to be a "little person".... on and on, you know, the way moms do.

Took teddy to school, and continued freaking out internally for the next 3 hours. When I finally got him home, I thought, well, let me just double check it, against the measurements I take every few months.

Well, it turns out, according to my records, Teddy grew 1 and 1/4 inch, and that was in 8 months, not a year...
so , I photographed the wall of markings, which I have been marking up for the past 4 years, when I remember... and emailed it to the doctor.

My friend just pointed out to me the Dr. probably is circulating this picture around her staff, saying, "look what this nutty mom emailed me." lol... she is probably right, but I am MORE right!

Always think, and rethink what your doctors tell you.
And try to find humor in everything.

THis gave me a good chuckle. I STILL do things like that! It's not my kids anymore, but now it's my pets. It doesn't go away.......

I remember the time at school, the school nurse sent a note home saying that my son needed glasses and to please get his eyes examined.

Between having four kids and our own busy schedules, it took me over a week to get him in for an examination.

In the meantime, they put in my son's "permanent record" that we refused to get his eyes examined!

Geesh.

I know yours was about doctors. YOu are right, don't believe them without question. But that is going to hold true for a lot of things while raising your children. No matter who it is, they are not always right! In fact, sometimes they are just dead wrong.

Hey!!!
My experience is that the Dr's have to act too concerned to cover their you know whatsits. All through grade/high school my mom was having "everything" measured on me since I was a wee bit small. I graduated 5-6/7 maybe? I'm 6-2 now. Don't worry and it sounds like you have the right attitude.

hope all(else)is well. If you see Howard at Starbucks punch him for selling the Sonics. Go Celtics!

Brett... wowzer... thanks for giving me "hope", but, the poor kid is saddled with my genes (5"1) and my husbands (5'6), but one can hope!

If I see Howard, I certainly will punch him for sellng the Sonics as well as for destroying his company.

So nice to hear from you. You have never been far from my thoughts.
